I bought an new SSD (WD_BLACK SN850X 2TB)

Reason why I buy an new SSD

So I was running out of storage on my machine now and I want to buy a new SSD.

I’m thinking about other options like Samsung 990 Pro, 980 Pro or even SK Hynix P41 Plantium for my drive but after searching the whole lists on Shopee, Lazada and Facebook Groups.

I found that these drives are overpriced for my current budget and most of them only have 1TB instead of 2TB version I need so instead I bought an WD_Black SN850X 2TB for very reasonable price with 5 years warranty from the famous seller on Shopee.

And after 3-4 days it arrived here :D

Box design

The WD_Black SN850X comes in a sleek, black packaging that feel very premium after few years being released. The SSD itself inside is a compact M.2 2280 form factor (forgot to take image) which is perfect for any machine support M.2 NVMe 2280 slot.

Performance

Machine for testing:

Lenovo ThinkBook 16 G6+ 2024 (AMD)

In CrystalDiskInfo you can see it’s an new SSD with latest firmware as I’m writing this post right now. At idle the temperature is around 44°C which is great with thermal pad applied.

For performance speed and temperature with sequential read speeds reaching up to 6,965.62 MB/s and write speeds hitting 6,661.55 MB/s, the WD_Black SN850X delivers lightning-fast load times for games, applications, and large files at max 60°C-70°C when testing. Even random 4K read/write performance (72.53 MB/s read and 237.49 MB/s write) is robust, ensuring quick access to smaller files and smooth system responsiveness.

For WD Dashboard application, I also try enabling Gaming Mode 2.0 and the performance speed increased it a bit but not that much effect for daily usage.

Conclusion

It’s the best SSD for me as this price point then other SSD I found are being overpriced make it outstanding choice for me personally want to seeking top-tier performance and reliability from WD. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to upgrade their system.
